Listed below is a description of each Elementary Class offered for 2019-2020
Please know that some of these classes overlap grades so look at the grade it is being offered for .
Also, some classes require supplies to be brought in by the student or have a class fee.

Exploring Creation with Botany Grades K-5
Teacher: Larry Keck
This class presents a scientifically sound and God-honoring study of botany for grades K-5. Content covered includes the nature of botany and the process of classifying plants. It then discusses the development of plants from seeds, the reproduction processes in plants, the way plants make their food, and how plants get their water and nutrients and distribute them throughout the body of the plant. Students may go on mini field trips and should dress accordingly on those days. The Apologia Exploring Creation with Botany book is not required but HIGHLY RECOMENDED!

Earth Science Grades
Teacher: Melissa Robertson
The first semester students will learn about Astronomy: exploring our solar system. Then the second semester we will be going over Geology; exploring the interior and exterior of our home, Earth.

Physical Education Grades PK-6Teacher: Amanda Gotts
This class will be designed to release energy while working to develop physical coordination and endurance in fun ways. Students will play various individual and team sports that enhance individual confidence and independence as well as teach team work and loyalty as the skills for each sport are developed.

Art Grades K-6
Teachers: Teachers for this class are on a rotation
Students will experience using different types of art media such as tempera paints, water colors, clay, colored pencils, etc. and obtain knowledge of different techniques. Crafts will be made to promote following steps to reach an end result. Each student will receive an understanding of how we can honor God through art.

Confectionery Delights Grades K-6
Teacher: Deborah Miller
Creating sweet treats that include cakes, cookies and candies that we create and/or decorate. Each student needs to supply a 2-cup glass measuring cup, rubber spatula and apron.
Class Fee: $5 PER SEMESTER Class Span: Semesters 1 and 2

Beginning (Novice) Group Piano Lessons Grades K-6
Teacher: Michelle Miller
This class is designed to teach students that have NEVER taken piano lessons in the past. Students would be required to bring weekly a keyboard with at least 3-4 octaves, and purchase of student book is required ($15)

Spanish Grades K-6 (Sem 1)
Teacher: Michelle Miller 7-12 (Sem 2)
In elementary music, students will learn the basics of music theory and classroom music instruction. We will be continuing to learn to play the xylophones and recorders and work on the art of musical performance. Sutdents taking this course should be able to read.
Class Fee: One time fee of $10 for books Class Span: Semester 1 (grades K-6)
Semester 2 (grades 7-12)

Sewing Grades 4-12
Teacher: Nancy Blohm
Teaching students the art of sewing on various new projects each week. Students will be required to bring a sewing machine to each class as well as a sewing kit with scissors, thread, pins, a stitch ripper, a stitch guide, and needles. Students will receive a list of items to bring in for each project.

Building Engineering Grades 4-6
Teacher: Dan Crist
A class designed to help children reach their creativity with a mechanical focus in building stable structures and possible robotics. Students will use various materials throughout the semester, like LEGOS, and K'NEX, and maybe magnets.

Epic Battles Grades 4-8
Teacher: Pst. Fritz Kruse
This class will take a look back in history and study some of the epic battles Americans have fought. We will be using Nerf guns, toilet paper and other "improvised weapons" to re-create some of these famous engagements. We'll learn what a siege is, why you never turn your back on the enemy, and how courage and sacrifice played a part in winning (or loosing) that battle and how that effected the war and history.

Junk Box Wars Grades 4-12
Teacher: Cassie Connin
Students will receive an objective that they will have to find the solution to using only the items in their junk box given to them at the beginning of class. This class will provide each student a chance to use their creative, engineering abilities, and problem solving skills all while having a great time. Points will be awarded throughout the year for tasks completed, wars won, and meeting objectives.
